I was a college student majoring in Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing  when I started this blog. (and picked up a minor in interdisciplinary writing along the way)  Now I’m working full time as a Social Media Chef, cooking up online strategies and content for two restaurants and living in a corner of New Jersey nicknamed “Hip City.”

I’m a college student majoring in Litt with a concentration on Creative Writing. I write mostly fiction, short stories, some poetry and some personal mish mash of thoughts and experiences.

I figure, it’s about time to start a serious (well relatively serious) blog.

I’m a writer.  But alas, my recent writings have been kept to short stories, and short blurbs and thoughts in my notebook that I carry around. Unacceptable.

I also am an advocate of the social media networks of the interwebs.  Facebook.  Myspace. Twitter. YouTube.  The Web 2.0 is a great thing idea.

These new methods of mass communication keep us all closely connected (uncomfortably close in some cases) but what is actually being communicated?

Status Update: Joe Schmo is  procrastinating doing his work by playing on Facebook.

Myspace Bulletin: Another Survey.. boredd.

Most people spend hours idling on social networking sites without actually socializing or networking.   New pictures and super short posted comments have taken place or any meaningful content or conversation.

Is substance being replace with convenience?

I must admit, i’m as guilty as anyone of these shortcomings, which is why i’ve taken an initiative to write some meaningful content via this blog.

Thoughts, stories, and writings about travels, conversations, and ideas.

Hey! I like your blogs, and especially what you are saying here about social media.

I really want to get into social media/marketing for some of my local businesses, but I feel like I am at a disadvantage because I don’t know code, or really much about web design beyond Dreamweaver.

Do you know code? How did you get started in web design?

    I’d appreciate your insight!

Thanks Amy! I took a look at your blog, and saw you’re a fellow writer/litt graduate like myself, and I think that’s a great background to go into social media with. I’ll shoot you an email and we can chat more on it if you’d like.

As for my coding background, I wouldn’t say I know much about code myself. I know a fair amount HTML and know my way around Dreamweaver. If you check the “Who is Presto?/Bio” section of my website (http://prestopedia.com) you can read my web background and how I first got into some coding. But the beauty of social media is you really don’t need to know much back-end coding.

I’m looking forward to more of your comments on the blog and look out for me on yours as well
